Trash Picking w/ Charleston Waterkeeper @ Port

Description

SCORE is excited to pick trash out of recycled oyster with Charleston Waterkeeper. Volunteers will use trash grabbers to pick trash out of recycled shells. Recycled oyster shell will be used to replant various State Shellfish Grounds and for various restoration projects. Safety gear, bug spray, water, and other needed materials will be provided.

Volunteer requirements include:

-Must sign volunteer waiver form before volunteering

-Must be at least 14 years old to participate (parent or guardian must digitally sign minor wavier form ahead of time)

-Comfortable lifting heavy objects (20-40lbs)

-Comfortable with strenuous tasks in summer conditions

-Must wear closed-toe shoes when volunteering (NO CROCS, NO WATERSHOES OR EXPOSED SKIN ON FEET; boots or old sneakers work well!)

-Highly encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. We'll have a water refill station on site.

Inclement Weather Plan: All SCORE opportunities happen rain or shine unless hazardous weather occurs. An email will be sent out day of if opportunity needs to be cancelled.
Get Connected Icon Drive all the way to the end of Kilo Street. Then take the right onto Pierside Street. SCORE staff will be at the end with a DNR truck directing parking.
