Join SCORE along with Charleston Waterkeeper for a Shell Bag Deployment out at our Maryville Site in West Ashley. Volunteers will meet us in the Charles Towne Landing main parking lot before we drive to the site. Volunteers will join SCDNR SCORE staff on boats to deploy oyster bags along the banks of Old Towne Creek.
Comfortable lifting heavy objects (20-40lbs)
Comfortable with strenuous tasks in summer conditions
Comfortable riding on boats, getting wet, and working in marsh environment, including standing on uneven surfaces and working in the pluff mud
Must wear closed-toe shoes when volunteering (NO CROCS, NO WATERSHOES OR EXPOSED SKIN ON FEET; boots or old sneakers work well!)
Highly encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. We'll have a water refill station on site.
